A Soviet space module has landed on Venus with scientific and communications instruments to carry out experiments as part of an international project, the Soviets’ Tass news agency reported. It said the module made a soft landing on the Mermaid plain and is carrying out research on the planet’s surface. It is relaying information back to Earth via the Vega 1 spacecraft, which released the module two days ago, Tass said.
