Hospital room rates in the Palomar-Pomerado Hospital District have been raised 7% to help pay for new construction and to bring the rates more in line with those paid by Medi-Cal and Medicare.
Officials said that, while the rates are now higher than the countywide average, they still are about 30% below the national average.
Based on the new schedule, daily room rates on the medical-surgical floors at Palomar Memorial Hospital in Escondido will be $272, up from $254. A room in the pediatrics ward will be $306, up from $286.
At Pomerado Hospital in Poway, a single room increased to $306 from $286.
