A $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the murderer of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. George Lynn Arthur was approved Wednesday by the Board of Supervisors.

Arthur, a 13-year department veteran, was shot in his van on a downtown freeway on-ramp June 1, moments after he left work at the Men’s Central Jail.

Sheriff Sherman Block, who requested the reward, said someone apparently was “lying in wait” in Arthur’s van. The sheriff said no suspects have been identified.
