The City Council has approved increased fares for students on the municipal bus lines. Students through high school will pay 25 cents, a five-cent increase. The fare for college students will increase from 20 to 50 cents.
Students make up 35% of the passengers on Culver City bus lines. As the percentage of student riders has increased, fares have covered a smaller percentage of the total cost of operating buses, city officials said. The increases are expected to generate an additional $62,000 in revenue this year.
