ComputerLand laid off 10% of its work force.

A spokesman for the computer retailing giant said the dismissal of 128 people in Oakland and Hayward, Calif., was “solely a function of market conditions” and unrelated to the recent court judgment against company founder William Millard and ComputerLand. In that case, Millard was ordered to turn over 20% of his stock in ComputerLand to a group of investors.
