Datapoint Corp. issued a clarification.

The company clarified the facts surrounding the termination of John C. Butler as the company’s chief operating officer. Butler, who joined Datapoint on May 13, was recently terminated. Edward P. Gistaro, president and chief executive of Datapoint, said the reasons for the termination were wholly unrelated to Butler’s objections to the proposed spinoff of the customer service division. In a June 13 letter to board members, Butler stated his opposition to Datapoint’s announced plan to spin off its customer service operation into a separate, publicly held company.
