COMMENCEMENT 1985 : University of California, Irvine
UC Irvine’s 20th commencement ceremony took place Saturday morning in Aldrich Park on campus.
Degrees: 1,868 diplomas awarded, including 281 master’s, 100 doctorates and 93 medical degrees.
Speakers: Chancellor Jack W. Peltason presented the commencement address. Richard E. Cofield, an economics major from Los Angeles, and David Hagopian, a history major from Torrance, were the student speakers. Former Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. spoke at a separate afternoon ceremony for the Graduate School of Management.
