Crews worked Saturday to clear a highway of debris left by the derailment of a coal train after a truck hit the trestle below and knocked the rails out of line, officials said.

The Union Pacific train, carrying more than 13,000 tons of coal, went off the track and plunged to the roadway below Friday, injuring three persons.

The trucker blamed for the accident, which caused damage estimated at $1.8 million, faced a maximum $10 fine, authorities said.
