The World - News from June 16, 1985
Iran said it hit the Iraqi capital of Baghdad with a long-range missile and made some territorial gains along the border battle zone. Hours later Iraq declared a unilateral halt in attacks on civilian targets. Iraq had no immediate comment on the Iranian claim. The Iranian statement said the latest offensive was launched Friday night shortly after Baghdad announced its two-week truce in another effort to induce Iran to negotiate a settlement.
