Polish Leader, Cardinal Meet

WARSAW —
Government and party leader Wojciech Jaruzelski and Cardinal Josef Glemp met today for the first time in 18 months to discuss tense church-state relations.
The official Polish news agency PAP said they “discussed the principles of shaping state-church relations and significant issues of public life.” Glemp refused to comment to reporters when he returned to his residence in Warsaw. Church sources said the meeting lasted about 4 1/2 hours.
