Mexico Smog Proposal

MEXICO CITY —
The Mexico City Historical Sites and Monuments Administration has proposed that the downtown, 20-block area around the Plaza del Zocalo be closed to vehicle traffic and the streets turned into pedestrian malls to reduce smog. It said the smog is corroding the carved stone in old churches, mansions and other colonial buildings.
