Three unions will fight TWA’s merger proposal.

TWA representatives of the Air Line Pilots Assn. formed a coalition with the Independent Federation of Flight Attendants and the International Assn. of Machinists to “pursue alternatives” to the $793.5-million takeover of the airline by Texas Air Corp. The coalition said it had retained two investment bankers to help it block Texas Air from gaining control of TWA. Among the options previously mentioned is an employee buy-out.
