Bellflower
Fourteen Bellflower Unified School District elementary science teachers have been selected to participate in a summer science program at UCLA from July 1 through Aug. 2.
The teachers will attend the renewed incentives in science education project with 500 other teachers from the throughout Los Angeles County.
Lectures will be presented by science instructors from UCLA, California State University, Los Angeles, and other private institutions. The lectures will focus on physical, earth and space sciences and life sciences for kindergarten through eight grade.
The teachers will receive a daily stipend of $50, of which the district will pay $30 and UCLA $20.
Selected teachers are Roger Hollenbeck, Jane Monninger, Yolanda Sandoval, Mark Whalen, Muriel Wilkinson, Carolyn Yerden, Cynthia Bearse, Barbara Nerell, Sylvia Tekely, Jim White, Nancy Nelson, Phillip Pate, JoAnn Cunningham and Kathy Rosenthal.
