Countywide : County’s Flag Lowered in Support of Hostages
As a gesture of support for the American hostages in Beirut, the Board of Supervisors voted Wednesday to fly all county flags at county facilities at half-staff until the situation is resolved.
“One American serviceman has lost his life in this terrorist hijacking and other lives are in constant peril,” said the board chairman, Thomas F. Riley, a retired Marine Corps general.
“Our action will join with the hopes and prayers of millions of Americans in wishing a safe return for all those held captive,” Riley said.
