Assad Meets Gorbachev

MOSCOW —
Syrian President Hafez Assad arrived in Moscow on Wednesday and immediately began talks with Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev in the Kremlin, the official Tass news agency reported. It gave no details, but diplomats said the talks were expected to cover tensions in the Middle East and Beirut in particular.
