The Burbank Board of Education Thursday night approved a tentative $38.6-million budget for the 1985-86 school year, 3.7% higher than last year’s budget.
Included in the proposed budget are 1984-85 salary increases for administrators and support staff and a 7.5% increase in teachers’ salaries, officials said. All salary increases previously had been approved by the board.
The proposed budget also includes $248,000 to expand a counseling program in the city’s schools. A counseling plan will be worked up for each student, and will include academic, career and social goals.
Burbank residents will have a chance to comment on the proposed budget at a public hearing Sept. 5, before its expected adoption by the board.
