The cost of a new service allowing passengers on publicly run buses to ride between Orange and San Diego counties will drop to $1 on July 1.

An agreement reached last week between the Orange County Transit District and the North County Transit District in San Diego will allow passengers to transfer in San Clemente to a bus traveling into San Diego County at a cost of 25 cents. The basic OCTD fare in Orange County is 75 cents.

The bus service connecting the two counties between San Clemente and Oceanside began June 2.
