Construction in County Edged Up During May

Construction activity in the areas served by the Los Angeles County Building and Safety Division was valued at $114,525,190 in May, slightly above the $113,221,760 valuation recorded in May, 1984, according to Superintendent of Building Larry Ammon.

Of the 2,600 permits issued last month,545 were for dwelling units, 266 in the unincorporated areas of the county and 279 in the 26 cities served by the division.

The Lancaster office, with permit valuation totals of $15,444,550, led the unincorporated areas, followed by Carson, Calabasas and Newhall. Santa Fe Springs, with permit valuation totals of $6,442,470, topped the list of incorporated cities.
