Operators of the Rancho Seco nuclear power plant near Sacramento reported a leak of radioactive water from a pipe connecting one of two steam generators inside the reactor building. Kerry Shearer, a spokesman for the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, said the plant was not operating when the leak of about 30 gallons per minute was detected. The leak was quickly halted and water was contained in the reactor building, posing no critical threat to the reactor, he said.
