Deputies say that what started as a fight between two youths outside a teen-agers’ nightclub in Santa Rosa escalated into a melee involving about 500 other youths, some of whom ripped up asphalt pavement and tossed the chunks at officers. No injuries more serious than minor bruises were reported in the fight, which resulted in seven arrests for failing to obey an order to disperse and interfering with a police officer. Sonoma County sheriff’s spokeswoman Sandy Perlmutter said the original fight, observed by deputies, started in the parking lot of the non-alcohol Kazbah Club. It took about 25 officers from the Sheriff’s Department, Santa Rosa police and the California Highway Patrol to quell the disturbance.
