A Washington state man was killed when his aircraft crashed during a glider competition, Siskiyou County authorities said. The body of Larry Ferguson of Bellevue, was found in the wrecked glider by a farmer after an all-night search, said Terry Weathers, operator of the county airport and sponsor of the contest. Ferguson was flying in the Region 11 North Soaring Competition. The objective of the 10 contestants from California, Oregon and Washington is to see which pilot can complete a set course in the fastest time.
