The La Verne City Council has announced its intention to award a cable television franchise to Foothills Cablevision, but a final decision will not be made until after a public hearing on the matter scheduled for July 15. Foothills, a Denver-based firm that serves about 8,000 subscribers in Five San Gabriel Valley cities, said it plans to expand its operations in La Verne by buying out the two other cable operators in the area, Communicom and TCI. Eventually, a Foothills spokesman said, the company hopes to be the only firm serving the city.
