The Old Brea redevelopment area is due for an $18.4-million face lift with the city’s approval of 1985-86 budgets.
Those funds will come from a $29-million city budget and a $25-million Redevelopment Agency budget approved unanimously by the City Council on Tuesday.
Highlights of the city’s upcoming budgets include street improvements throughout the city, additional police personnel and the completion of the Brea Civic Culture Center.
Also scheduled next year is $760,000 for the construction of a fire station at Kraemer Avenue and Lambert Road. The city’s Fire Department also requested the addition of a protection analyst to develop a program for state-mandated high-rise inspections.
Brea’s economy “has improved significantly” in the last 18 months, City Manager Edward Wohlenberg wrote in an overview to the budget. “We are hopeful that this trend continues.”
