Zaire to Double Size of Its Armed Forces

KINSHASA, Zaire —
President Mobutu Sese Seko has decided to double the strength of Zaire’s armed forces from 50,000 men to 100,000, the Defense Ministry announced.
A communique said that Mobutu, who is commander in chief, made the decision at a meeting of the Higher Defense Council.
The action followed by days a rebel attack across Lake Tanganyika on the port town of Moba.
