San Diego police are looking for a gunman who robbed two Pacific Beach banks within 25 minutes Thursday, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
In the first robbery, at the California First Bank at 1706 Garnet Ave., the bandit fled with $515. In the second robbery, at Gibraltar Savings at 770 Turquoise St., he took $543. In each instance the robber gave tellers a note demanding money and showed them a pistol he held inside a folded newspaper, Robinson said. The bandit then fled on foot.
The bandit was 6 feet, 2 inches to 5 inches tall, weighed about 200 pounds, had dark hair and a full beard and wore beige shorts, a blue T-shirt and a dark baseball cap.
