Chloramine

I am taking issue with your editorial (June 9) denouncing Dist. Atty. Ira Reiner because of his strong stand against chloramination of our drinking water. I, for one, am deeply grateful we have an elected official concerned with the health problems these chemicals may cause. Reiner states it as it is. You ask Californians to wait for the federal study--the same government that told us many chemical products were safe only to have to admit later that they were carcinogens.

How can you balance the threat of cancer with the cost of a safe alternative instead of chloramine?
