The Conference Board’s measure of help-wanted ads in U.S. newspapers had declined in April, the research group said. The board said its help-wanted advertising index remained at 131 in May after dropping to that level in April from 138 in March. The index, which uses a 1967 base of 100, measures the volume of help-wanted classified advertising in 51 major U.S. newspapers.
