Four bombs exploded in this industrial region of southern Chile, damaging the local offices of a U.S. company, two Mormon temples and a police station, authorities said today.

The bombs went off almost simultaneously shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday in downtown Concepcion and in the neighboring towns of Lota, Talcahuano and Coronel. In Concepcion, the explosive was placed near the main entrance of the local offices of National Cash Register, causing major damage to the building. One passer-by was slightly injured by flying glass. In Lota and Coronel, bombs caused minor damage to the local Mormon temples, and a police station was bombed in Talcahuano. No group has claimed responsibility.
