The state Health Services Department has ordered the recall of a puzzle called “Quick-Silver Maze” because it contains dangerous liquid Mercury. Health Director Kenneth Kizer said that the manufacturer, John Hansen Inc. of Millbrae, had agreed to conduct the recall and advised people to return the puzzle to the stores where they had been purchased. Kizer said there had been no reports of illnesses. Mercury is poisonous when absorbed through the skin, and inhalation of its vapor can cause brain and kidney diseases, Kizer said.
