Realty Hiring Levels Increase

Spurred by a vigorous home-building industry, the hiring of senior real estate managers rose to 9% of national executive hiring during the second quarter of 1985, up from 7% a year ago, according to a report by Korn/Ferry International.

“While housing starts declined in May, home builders are clearly anticipating one of their best years as reflected in hiring levels unmatched since the housing boom of the early 1970s,” according to Lee Van Leeuwen, managing partner of Korn/Ferry’s Los Angeles-based National Real Estate Division.

Developers of for-sale housing and multifamily projects are recruiting division presidents, property management executives and other senior management, he added. “Multifamily housing has had a major impact on the executive marketplace due to the appetite for quality income-producing property,” he said.
