Texas Executes Killer of Policeman

HUNTSVILLE, Tex. —
Henry Martinez Porter, calling society “a bunch of cold-blooded murderers,” was executed early today for the slaying of a Fort Worth police officer nearly 10 years ago.
Porter insisted to his last breath--at 12:31 a.m.--that the killing of Henry Mailloux was in self-defense. Porter, 43, is a former painter’s helper with a lengthy criminal history that included burglary, robbery, assault, forgery and auto theft.
