Accused Nazi war criminal Andrija Artukovic was transferred from a federal prison hospital in Springfield, Mo., to the federal prison on Terminal Island in compliance with the orders of U.S. Magistrate Volney V. Brown. The return of Artukovic, 85, who is in failing health, was disclosed by his son, Rad. Brown has ruled that Artukovic may be extradited to Yugoslavia on charges that he was responsible for mass murders of Jews, Gypsies and Serbs in Croatia while serving as Croatian interior minister during World War II. Pending an appeal of his findings, however, Brown last week ordered Artukovic returned to the Los Angeles area to be near his family.
