8 Maoist Rebels Slain

AYACUCHO, Peru —
Government troops killed eight Maoist guerrillas in a clash in the troubled southeastern province of Ayacucho, military officials said Wednesday. They said the troops killed the Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) rebels in Mayopampa, 50 miles southeast of Ayacucho city. They also seized grenades and propaganda material.
