FENNVILLE, Mich. —
Former U.S. Rep. Edward Hutchinson, the ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee during the Nixon impeachment debate, died Monday night at the age of 70, a funeral home spokeswoman announced today.
Hutchinson, who did not seek reelection in 1976, was first elected to the House in 1963. Long considered a loyalist to President Nixon, Hutchinson led the Michigan Republican delegation in August, 1974, in calling for Nixon’s resignation or impeachment following the Watergate revelations.
