Sir Yehudi--20 Years Late

LONDON —
American-born violinist Yehudi Menuhin, who became a naturalized Briton earlier this year, was knighted today by Queen Elizabeth II, 20 years after he received the award.
“I feel as if I have been belatedly baptized,” Menuhin told the queen after she lightly touched his shoulders with a sword in a Buckingham Palace ceremony. Menuhin, who has lived in Britain for 25 years, was named a knight in 1965 but could not be dubbed until he became a citizen.
