A hearing on Turner’s bid for CBS was canceled.
The FCC voted 4 to 0 to cancel two days of oral arguments that were to evaluate Atlanta broadcaster Ted Turner’s qualifications to take over CBS Inc. The hearings were to have begun today. In seeking a postponement of the hearings, CBS had told the Federal Communications Commission that it expected to successfully complete its buy-back and retirement of 21% of the company’s stock as part of a financial restructuring that would make Turner’s current proposal impossible.
