Jeannie Longo of France, runner-up to American Connie Carpenter the past four years in the Coors International bicycle event, won the first stage of this year’s race at Grand Junction, Colo.

Longo completed the 30-mile course in 1 hour 2 minutes 7 seconds, finishing ahead of Rebecca Daughton of Santa Cruz and Barbara Dolan of Boulder, Colo.
