You claim that Mr. Bennett needs homework on the U.S. Constitution, and the subject of the editorial makes it obvious that the reference is to the First Amendment.

That amendment states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . . . .”

The words are clear. The constitution is short. I suggest that your editorial writers take the time to read it before criticizing those who obviously have. (“Wall of separation” is an interpretation; it does not appear in the Constitution.)

Mr. Bennett and the Reagan Administration are trying to get the Supreme Court to read the U.S. Constitution before interpreting it. We would all benefit from that simple reform.
