Tens of thousands of angry Filipinos mounted anti-government demonstrations across the nation today to mark the second anniversary of the murder of opposition leader Benigno S. Aquino Jr. A policeman was killed and 17 other people were injured, officials said.

About 45,000 people rallied in Manila, swarming into the financial district of Makati and occupying a gateway to the presidential palace where 4,000 riot police, marines and army scout rangers erected a tight net of security.

Violence broke out in Cebu, the third largest city, where riot police bombarded 7,000 rock-throwing demonstrators with water jets. The state-run news agency said five soldiers and 12 students suffered slight injuries.

It also said three unidentified men shot and killed a policeman at a rally in Naga city, 170 miles south of Manila.

In one Manila protest, about 30,000 people led by the Aquino family and moderate opposition members of Parliament in Makati called for the impeachment of President Ferdinand E. Marcos.
