Czechoslovakian ice hockey star Peter Klima apparently has defected to the West while training with his national team in the West German town of Rosenheim near Munich.
Klima, 22, was a member of the Czech squad that won the world championship in Prague earlier this year. He failed to appear for his team’s training session Monday morning, said Monika Reigl, an assistant manager of the Rosenheim ice hockey club. Reigl said Klima had disappeared from the hotel where the team is staying, and added that his whereabouts were unknown.
