Fears expressed by Natalie Rupe and Deborah Lynn Robbins concerning Rupe’s estranged husband, Paul, appeared to be realized when police found them stabbed to death at the house they shared in Redding. Paul Rupe was arrested a few hours later on suspicion of murder. Neighbors said they called police when they heard screams coming from the house. Neighbors said both women had told them they were frightened of Rupe, whom they blamed for repeated instances of damage to automobiles parked outside their house. Rupe had been arrested earlier when found prowling, armed with a knife, outside the house. He was released a few hours before the double slaying.
