Eight Scheduled to Contest the Del Mar Debutante Today

A field of eight headed by Arewehavingfunyet was entered Friday to run in today’s $125,000-added Del Mar Debutante.

Arewehavingfunyet will be ridden by Patrick Valenzuela and was assigned high weight of 120 pounds for the 35th running of the one-mile race for 2-year-old fillies.

Wee Lavaliere, who will be ridden by Chris McCarron, was assigned second-high weight of 117 pounds.

The other six entries are assigned 113 pounds apiece. They are Python, who will be ridden by Laffit Pincay; Miami Lu, Martin Pedroza; Lady Exceller, Eddie Delahoussaye; Arctic Moon, Sandy Hawley; Life at the Top, Rafael Meza, and Tropical Holiday, Darrel McHargue.

If all eight entries go to the post, the total purse will be $218,710 and the winner will earn $136,210.

A field of eight was entered in Saturday’s $125,000-added Del Mar Oaks, a 1 1/8-mile race for 3-year-old fillies on Del Mar’s turf course.

The third rich race of the Labor Day weekend, the $200,000-added Del Mar Handicap, will be run Monday. Among those expected to compete in the 46th running of the 1-mile event for 3-year-olds and up are My Habitony, First Norman, Estrapade and Protect Yourself.
