Handing Down a Korean Bean Sprout Recipe

Talitha Scheevel obtained this recipe from her mother and makes the dish often.

Garlic powder, sesame seeds and oil, green onions and cayenne pepper give the bean sprouts a unique flavor.

KOREAN BEAN SPROUTS

1/2 pound bean sprouts

Boiling water

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon MSG, optional

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted

2 tablespoons sesame oil

1/4 cup finely chopped green onions

Dash cayenne pepper, optional

Clean bean sprouts. Drop in boiling water. Boil 5 minutes. Drain well. Stir in salt to taste, MSG, garlic powder, sesame seeds, sesame oil, green onions and cayenne pepper. Simmer 2 minutes. Serve hot or cold. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
