Strong Hurricane Changes Course Away From Hawaii

HONOLULU —
Hurricane Rick, one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded in the North Pacific with winds of up to 170 m.p.h., on Tuesday veered slowly away from Hawaii, where residents had been warned to be ready to take precautions.
The storm appeared to be slowly weakening and its projected path would keep it well east of the islands, the National Weather Service said.
