The Woodland Hills-based data communications equipment manufacturer said it cut its work force to 65 this month in an effort to slash expenses by $1 million this quarter. Protocol also will give up some office space and make other unspecified cuts to reach the goal, a spokesman said. Protocol lost $800,000 on revenue of $2.7 million in its third quarter ended June 30, and the company said the fourth quarter will be unprofitable as well.
