Soviet cosmonauts orbiting the Earth added their voices to a Kremlin chorus of condemnation against the test of an anti-satellite missile against a target in space. “We register a resolute protest against this step by the Reagan Administration,” cosmonaut Vladimir Dzhanibekov, orbiting in the Salyut 7 space station, said in a recorded message broadcast on Soviet TV. He added, “ ‘Star Wars’ is the quickest way to suicide,” referring to President Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative, which Moscow insists must be abandoned.
