Israel Sentences Mystic in Plot to Blow Up Shrine

JERUSALEM —
An Israeli court has sentenced the ringleader of a cave-dwelling group of Jewish mystics to eight years in prison for plotting to blow up the Dome of the Rock Muslim shrine, a Justice Ministry spokesman announced Wednesday night.
Shimon Barda, 26, and two other Israelis were caught hauling TNT and stolen army hand grenades to the Jerusalem shrine in January, 1984.
