‘On Behalf of Medical Science’

On behalf of the California Biomedical Research Assn., I would like to thank The Times for its editorial.

The benefits to humans and animals that have resulted from biomedical research using animals are widely recognized and hailed. It is imperative that laboratories that utilize animals conform to National Institutes of Health standards and any facilities that are found to be in violation should be made to improve conditions. It is our information, however, that the University of California at Riverside is about to receive a clean slate from the NIH and is in no danger of having its funded suspended.
