The Manila trial of 25 soldiers and one civilian in the assassination of Philippine opposition leader Benigno S. Aquino Jr. ended as prosecutors waived their right to call rebuttal witnesses. Each side was given 20 days to submit written summations before the case goes to a three-judge panel, which must reach a unanimous decision. The judges have until Jan. 16 to reach a verdict. Aquino was shot to death at Manila airport Aug. 21, 1983, as he returned from the United States.
