IDOLATRY

Share

Mr. Hilsteen-Springburn has certainly managed to endear himself in the hearts of several readers by unequivocally declaring the (apparently unopposed) Boss “the most powerful contemporary symbol of American idealism,” but I am not buying it (“The Boss--From Idol to Symbol,” Sept. 20).

I take exception to Mr. Heartburn’s nauseating idolatry and will take the liberty of speaking up for those of us with a slightly different point of view. Conducting a discreet poll of certifiably informed people, I have compiled the following list of contenders for the title of MPCSAI: Pee-wee Herman, Bob Geldof, Mary Tyler Moore, Pete Rose, Sissy Spacek, Tom Landry, Pia Zadora, Rambo, Doug Flutie, Gumby, Tiny Tim and Betty White.
